    The bundle is genius

Saves me from having to purchase bags and oxygen packets separately. We love that the oxygen packets are packaged in sets of 10.

Better than what came with our Harvest Right

I’ve purchased a lot of Mylar bags, including the ones that came with our Harvest Right. These are better. I like the matte black.

FAQ

Questions before you seal?

Call or text a real person, 11am–5pm CST: 213-523-3329

How long does food last in Mylar with oxygen absorbers?

Properly sealed, many dry foods — rice, beans, flour, pasta — can last up to 30 years, depending on storage conditions.

Do I really need oxygen absorbers?

Yes. Oxygen absorbers remove residual oxygen inside the bag, preventing mold, pests, and spoilage. Without them, food may not last nearly as long, even in high-quality Mylar bags. Foods that should NOT be stored with oxygen absorbers include sugar, baking powder and soda, and salt, as they do not need them and will clump if added.

How many absorbers per bag?

The required amount depends on bag size and food type. For example, a 1-gallon Mylar bag typically requires one 300–500cc oxygen absorber, while a 5-gallon bag usually needs 2000–2500cc in total. Less densely packed foods i.e. pasta will require more versus a densely packed item like rice.

What size bags should I buy?

It depends on your storage needs. Our 1-gallon bags are great for regular use, while 5-gallon bags are ideal for bulk storage or storage in buckets. We have sizes down to 1-cup for spices and dried herbs. Using different sizes allows flexibility and reduces waste when opening stored food.

How do I seal Mylar bags at home?

You can seal Mylar bags using a heat sealer, flat iron, or hair straightener. The goal is to create a strong airtight seal across the top of the bag after adding food and oxygen absorbers.

What foods should not go in Mylar?

Moist, oily, or high-fat foods (like fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and dairy products) are not suitable for long-term Mylar storage because they can spoil or turn rancid. Mylar bags are best for dry, low-moisture foods, ideally those with less than 10% moisture content.
